Instead of the Casa Grande Fire Department helping others, the organization received help of its own last week. The Casa Grande City Council authorized the department to accept grant funding from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Over $3.5 million will go toward hiring more firefighters and ensuring the department continues to help the community.
In Arizona news, Governor Katie Hobbs vetoed a bill that would ban what has been called “critical race theory” in public schools. This latest piece of legislation marks Hobbs’ 16th veto since taking office, with the governor calling this particular subject a fake political issue.
Finally, for those looking to enjoy live music, it was announced that country singer Jordan Davis will perform at Harrah’s Ak-Chin Casino in Maricopa. Davis, a Louisiana native, will make the trip out west to perform Friday, April 28. |
