Rapidly ramping up renewable energy is a vital way to combat the climate crisis. Fortunately, the Biden-Harris administration has set ambitious goals for how public lands and waters can play an important part in that transformation.
But we need to ensure that renewable energy projects on public lands are developed responsibly, with meaningful community and Tribal input–and only in places where they won’t significantly harm wildlands, wildlife and cultural resources.
Right now, the Bureau of Land Management is updating its policies to support and improve renewable energy development on public lands across the West. This is a critical step to jump-start the renewable energy revolution and avoid the worst impacts of the climate crisis.
But BLM needs to hear from the public before March 1 that we support responsible solutions—not energy that comes at the expense of our lands, waters, biodiversity or communities. Our voices will help guide equitable and swift progress toward a more sustainable future.
Thank you,
