Dear Peter,
When we first met sweet Frankie, she had just been rescued from a horrific life in a commercial breeding facility. As we carried her out of our mobile rescue unit, it was clear she was in respiratory distress. With every breath a struggle, we knew this endearing, six-year-old French Bulldog was yet another victim of irresponsible breeding. With your help we can change Frankie’s life forever.
Frankie was immediately brought into our Pet Health Centers for evaluation, where she was diagnosed with brachycephalic airway syndrome. This is a genetic disorder, common among “short-faced” breeds like Bulldogs and Pugs, that creates upper airway abnormalities and makes it extremely difficult to take enough air in – like trying to breathe through a drinking straw. Can you imagine struggling for every breath while being forced to carry litter after litter? |
