Peter,
Washington, D.C. is plagued by rampant crime. But instead of restoring law and order, D.C. liberals have another approach: reduce penalties for violent criminals.
Their far-left crime-enabling legislation is so bad that even ultra-liberal D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser is against it. But on Tuesday, D.C. liberals overrode Mayor Bowser’s veto and pushed forward with their dangerous soft-on-crime agenda.
And D.C.’s not the only one — liberal prosecutors in cities like San Francisco, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, and New York have pushed policies that encourage criminals to prey on law-abiding citizens. From failing to prosecute theft in Philadelphia to allowing cashless bail in New York — soft-on-crime policies are making the crime wave much worse.
Instead of letting violent criminals off the hook with lighter punishments, liberals should focus on protecting American families from violent crime.
I want to get your take on this. Take our crime survey here to let me know what you think is a better approach for fixing the crime crisis. |
