URGENT ACTION NEEDED: Cruise ship corporations are pushing vulnerable POLAR BEARS closer to EXTINCTION!
Arctic polar bears are already clinging to survival — their fragile habitats are RAPIDLY MELTING AWAY and they are suffering from STARVATION due to the human-driven climate crisis. In fact, the Arctic is warming TWICE AS FAST as the United States.
Meanwhile, profit-driven cruise corporations are making this ecological disaster EVEN WORSE, charging through the Arctic with their massive ships that are causing colossal amounts of hazardous pollution. Carnival Corporation is the biggest culprit, carrying over 11,000 tons of TOXIC heavy fuel oil through essential arctic habitats in a single year. We CANNOT allow Big Cruise to trample through our precious Arctic waters carrying dirty oil and pushing beloved animals like polar bears CLOSER TO EXTINCTION. Increased ship traffic from large cruise vessels is causing irreparable damage to sensitive arctic habitats, including noise pollution that is driving fish and other marine creatures away — leaving helpless polar bears malnourished and hungry without critical food sources.
These enormous ships also introduce harmful contaminants into Arctic waters that are actually SEEPING into the food chain itself. That means polar bears who are able to locate scarce food are being POISONED by toxins and absorbing shockingly high levels of dangerous chemicals from the fish they eat.
