Peter, It’s hard to believe November is almost here. The last few months have flown by, and have brought serious wins that will provide more hopeful lives for millions of people. From Inseparable passing school-based mental health reforms in Alabama, Delaware, and Illinois to helping win an unprecedented federal investment of $1.3 billion for youth mental health, more people struggling with their mental health will have access to better care than ever before.
We are just getting started, and we need your help.
Election Day is less than two weeks away, and this year we’ve seen more candidates than ever before speak out and back real mental health policy solutions. More than 500 candidates and elected officials from both political parties have signed our Mental Health Now Statement of Support to:
Increase the availability of mental health care for everyone in need.
Promote wellness and early intervention by expanding youth mental health services.
Improve crisis response for anyone experiencing a mental health emergency.
Never before have this many candidates stepped up together in favor of mental health care policy during an election. This presents a real opportunity, and we need to scale to meet this moment. Together we will win more policies, and impact more lives, in 2023 and beyond.
We know that our country’s mental health is in crisis. Our youth need our help, people who want care aren’t able to reach it, and in 2020, suicide was among the top nine leading causes of death for people ages 10-64.
But there’s also light at the end of the tunnel. The majority of Americans believe that suicide can be prevented, and the introduction of the 988 crisis hotline has made suicide prevention services more accessible nationwide.
Inseparable is here to continue this progress for our children, families, communities, and country. We have and will continue to work directly with leaders to finally win better mental health policy.
It’s okay to not be okay. If you or someone you know needs help, call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 988. Crisis Text Line also provides free, 24/7, confidential support via text message to people in crisis when they text HOME to 741741.
