all things Inseparable

Hi Peter,

We have been incredibly busy this month, and now is the perfect chance to catch you up on our work and important mental health news!

Inseparable was thrilled to announce the launch of Mental Health Now last week. This campaign is giving candidates up and down the ballot an opportunity to prioritize mental health and commit to tangible mental health policy solutions. The campaign is ensuring that mental health cannot be ignored this election season. More than 400 candidates to date have affirmed their support for prevention and early intervention, improving crisis response, and increasing access to care.

We need better mental health care, accessibility, and education. See what candidates in your state have signed the Statement of Support. >>

We also just held our Mental Health Candidate Forum in Colorado called “Meeting of the Minds.” This event was co-hosted by the Inseparable team and was a nonpartisan forum where Senator Michael Bennet (D) and Mr. Joe O’Dea (R), both candidates for U.S. Senate, shared their plans to improve mental health outcomes and turn around Colorado’s mental health crisis.

During the forum, we heard Senator Bennet speak to the need to treat mental health as seriously as we do physical health and go where people are and integrate mental health in people’s lives. Mr. O’Dea spoke about how mental health impacts every family and that we are failing our kids and we have to do better.

The Colorado Mental Health Candidate Forum was the only forum of its kind where the candidates speak exclusively on mental health policy and solutions in Colorado. This discussion came at a crucial time when six in ten Coloradans experience anxiety, depression, loneliness, or stress, and the leading cause of death for Colorado youth ages 15 to 19 is suicide. Learn more about the event and the work each candidate will do here. >>

  • Suicide rates among active-duty service members and veterans have been rising, especially since the pandemic. Not only has suicide rates increased 40% between 2015 and 2020, but longtime suicide hotspot postings such as Alaska have seen rates double.
  • To relieve this crisis, organizations have tried to fill the gaps with a variety of programs and outreach efforts. These programs can help service members and veterans. However, more work still needs to be done. Mental health help shouldn’t be out-of-reach for those who need it the most.
