President Biden just announced protection of the Camp Hale-Continental Divide National Monument in central Colorado! This is a significant step toward our shared goal of protecting 30% of U.S. lands and waters by 2030 to combat the climate and extinctions crises.
It’s a big deal! The president previously restored protections to Bears Ears and Grand Staircase-Escalante in Utah after Trump unlawfully reduced them, but this is his first “new” national monument. It helps preserve a historic military site, important wildlife habitat and outstanding recreational opportunities.
We’re celebrating this moment AND celebrating our supporters, whose thousands of comments to the White House made it possible. With your help, we’ll keep working with partners to permanently protect special places like Avi Kwa Ame and Castner Range in the months and years ahead.
