Despite being the heart of the civil rights movement and the reason for the Voting Rights Act of 1965, Black Alabama voters have been overlooked by political candidates for decades. This year, Black Alabamians face racially gerrymandered maps – now being heard in the Supreme Court – which continues to hamper Black voters’ representation in the state.
We know Black voters in Alabama matter, and so do Alabamians. That is why we are working with partners on the ground to empower and turn out voters at the polls this fall.
