Gosar Introduces Legislation Empowering States to Fight Illegal Immigration
This week I introduced the Empowering States to Deport Illegal Aliens Act, legislation that will allows states to authorize state and local law enforcement officers to enforce federal immigration laws and prosecute anyone who illegally enters the country that is residing in their state. Our border is a war zone and fentanyl is ravaging communities all across America. It is going to take the states to fight this invasion, while Joe Biden does absolutely nothing to keep us safe.

Gosar Votes to Remedy 9/11 Victims Fund
This week Ivoted in favor of H.R. 8987, the Fairness for 9/11 Families Act, legislation that would authorize lump sum catch-up payments for all eligible 9/11 victims, spouses, and dependents.
Sadly, today our country is no safer than it was 21 years ago. Nearly every recommendation by the 9/11 Commission to prevent future attacks has been ignored. Systemic problems, in particular Joe Biden’s open border policies, are a very real concern. 78 terrorists have been apprehended crossing our southern border in the last 18 months. No one knows how many more have entered our country undetected.
While this legislation will provide payments to the victims of 9/11, it does nothing to prevent a future terrorist attack by those who are quite literally walking into our country, encouraged by the Biden administration’s reckless immigration policies.
Speaking of fairness, there are countless other victims suffering in our country that are also entitled to compensation from the federal government including people in Mohave County, Arizona who developed cancer or other related illnesses after being exposed to radiation from atomic weapons testing during our nation’s Cold War Era but were mistakenly excluded from receiving payments.
Like the Fairness for 9/11 Families Act, congress has a moral responsibility to update the Radiation Exposure Compensation Act and should stop dragging its feet and immediately take it up.
Gosar Opposes Sending Billions to Ukraine While Americans Struggle at Home
Democrats have failed to do their basic job of passing budget and appropriations bills by regular order, choosing to once again kick the can this week by funding the budget with a continuing resolution (CR) until December 16. I voted against the CR for many reasons, including because it sends an additional $12.3 billion to Ukraine.
I will not support more war, more interventionism and more global alliances that hurt our country. Countless Americans have lost everything due to Hurricane Ian. Bidenflation continues to crush families as wages can’t keep pace with the Biden-created recession. The southern border is wide open, we are being invaded by 8000 lawbreakers every day and fentanyl is killing tens of thousands of Americans every year. Yet, this continuing resolution does NOT address our inflation crisis, the supply chain crisis, the border crisis, or our energy crisis. The American people cannot afford two more years of the reckless and out-of-touch agenda of one-party democrat rule in Washington. I will not support one more penny for the Biden administration’s tyranny against the American people.
Gosar Introduces Legislation Banning Lockdowns and Vaccine Mandates
During the COVID-19 pandemic, many states and localities violated the rights of American citizens to assemble by refusing them entry into churches, places of business, and entertainment venues and they restricted the rights of American citizens by denying them the ability to earn a living and provide for a family through forced inoculation of the COVID-19 vaccine. We must never again allow the total violation of our rights that occurred during the COVID-19 lockdowns and mandates. This week I introduced the End Lockdowns and Vaccine Mandates Act, legislation that prevents states and the federal government from forbidding people from entering a place of business or having to receive an inoculation as a condition of employment.
Earlier this week I had the opportunity to tour the Hoover Dam. Many thanks to Len Schilling, Area Office Manager and the many fine people from the Lower Colorado Basin Region for the behind-the-scenes view!
It’s Mail Time!
You know I love hearing from you and last month I received more than 5200 letters. This week I received hundreds of letters from concerned constituents regarding Biden’s open border policies. Here are a few:
Marla P. from Kingman writes:
Yes and yes to your proposed act. Someone has got to finally DO SOMETHING about our porous aka non-existent border. If part of the President’s responsibility is to keep its citizens safe and its borders secure, why hasn’t Biden been brought up on dereliction of duties charges? It is SHOCKING and FRUSTRATING that he can do whatever he wants and there are NO CONSEQUENCES. Why is that? We strongly support you and are very glad you represent our district!
Ron T. from Kingman shared his views:
Just a note of thanks for the congressman’s recent legislation that would allow the states to deport illegal aliens. You have my full support and vote.
Robert P. from Clarkdale expressed his concerns:
Thank you for introducing the first sensible legislation we’ve seen in a long time on controlling illegal immigration. There is another way I have thought of to control illegal immigration that would take the problem off of America and put it square on the backs of those violating our federal immigration laws. Put very plainly, it would be as follows:
Any persons caught entering the United States illegally, caught living/working in the United States illegally or in any way residing within the United States illegally will be permanently banned from ever being able to enter the United States again. Repeat offenders will be sentenced to prison time before being deported back to their home countries.
There should be a grace period for those here now to allow them to report their location to the US authorities and arrange to leave the United States and go to the end of the line of those who are following our federal laws. This may sound harsh, but these people are abusing the United States laws by crossing many countries because they only want to live in America where we will take care of them. We can’t afford to let in everyone who wants to live here. We already have a shortage of housing and rentals, and they are becoming very costly. Where does Biden expect these people that he let in to live? It’s time to end socialism in America.
Rich H. from Flagstaff sent this note:
I read your recent newsletter which highlighted your new proposed legislation: “Gosar Introduces Legislation Empowering States to Fight Illegal Immigration.” It seems that this would certainly be groundbreaking legislation if it can be passed and used by the States to enforce Federal Law as needed to bring back control over our boarders. I would not have thought it would be even possible to do this, but I am in favor of it for the benefit of all border states suffering from lack of Federal Immigration Law Enforcement. I hope this is possible, and best of luck in your endeavors to get it passed.
