RJ,
Our country has been dealing with inflation for more than a year now, leading to more expensive gas and grocery bills everywhere. Yet, the Department of the Interior has been delaying natural gas and oil lease sales in the Gulf of Mexico that could provide proven, reliable energy to our economy. Not only that, but the Department’s newest draft program leaves the door open to not holding any sales for the next 5 years.
That’s a long time to ignore the incredible economic benefits and enhanced national security that could come from developing these leases. The Department of the Interior needs to get serious about fulfilling its mission of managing federal lands and waters responsibly. By delaying and canceling offshore lease sales, the Department is doing the opposite, making the Gulf of Mexico a more unpredictable place to do business.
Canceling or delaying lease sales means less investment in our energy sector, fewer jobs created, and a harder road to bringing down energy prices.
We need your help to convince the Department of the Interior to move forward with its proposed 11 lease sales and keep our federal lands open to meet our energy needs. Will you join us?
