Good morning RJ,
Well, to quote one Maricopa City Council candidate, yesterday’s election in Pinal County was “a complete disaster.” About an hour before polls closed, the county sent out an alert to residents that some polling locations had run out of ballots. The county rushed more ballots to polling places but the error caused enough of a delay that the first unofficial results for some races in the county were not reported until after 11:45 p.m.
And the results for some city council races, in particular the ones that had been left off of mail-in ballots in July, weren’t posted to the county’s elections website until the wee hours of Wednesday morning. The situation left candidates running for Eloy, Maricopa and Casa Grandecity councils “frustrated,” “disappointed” and “looking for answers.”
Keep an eye on our website. We’ll be reporting on the results in those races as they come in. In the meantime, here are the results from the Florence Town Council, Coolidge City Council, the Justice of Peace Precinct 5 and some local legislative races. We’ve also got early results for the vote on Florence’s home rule issue and the Maricopa City Council race.
