Today’s common sense step to boost American energy is designating critical energy infrastructure projects.

When Congress passed bipartisan infrastructure legislation, it was a good first step to modernizing domestic energy infrastructure. However, federal regulations are slowing the permitting process to a crawl and putting the government in the way of energy production. It shouldn’t take years to build a new refinery or LNG terminal when the need is immediate. Delays make it harder to respond to crises both domestic and global.

Congress must ensure that the permitting process for critical projects does not exceed one year. This will increase America’s ability to produce, process, and transport energy safely and efficiently— and that benefits us all.

We need to keep the momentum going! Call on Congress to streamline the federal leasing process to lower energy costs and create high-paying jobs.
