Jul 19, 2022
Encanterra Country Club

Dear Members,

July is here and we started it off with a bang with the Fourth of July (3rd) Celebrations. The BBQ was well attended along with the concert and fireworks show. With July in full swing, our team has been working hard to make this summer one to remember for our Members. We are looking forward to continuing the fun here at Encanterra and we are hoping to make this summer here the best it’s ever been. With that, here are some updates from around the Club:

Friendly Reminder

There is no overnight parking permitted at the Club. This includes both La Casa and The Algarve. Overnight parking at either Club will result in towing at the owner’s expense. For more information, click here.

Golf Maintenance

Transition may seem like it is off to a slow start this year, but we actually started the process 2-3 weeks later than we did in 2021. We also received over an inch of rain in early July last year which really encouraged the growth of the Bermuda grass. This is Alex’s second transition at Encanterra and his 15th throughout his career. The goal when he started in March 2021 was to improve conditions each year. We believe the maintenance team has done that by implementing practices that will benefit the golf course in the short term as well as the long term. Bermuda grass is the base that the ryegrass is overseeded into each fall and then that same Bermuda grass is then transitioned back in the summer to again create a base for the ryegrass in the fall. Typically, the better your overseed is, the tougher your summer transition will be.

Fertilizer applications and cultural practices are made to promote growth and tillering activity. We have completed several fertilizer applications, deep tine aerification in the fairways, tee aerification, greens aerification, topdressing, along with slicing and aerification in the fairways and rough.

The rule of thumb has been 100 – 125 days from ryegrass removal to overseed preparation to have Bermuda grass fully recover. Each year is different, and one year’s successes could be another year’s failures. In this industry, you must always be willing to adapt as the weather and its changes is the biggest factor. With this, there are always new ideas and products hitting the market that can improve and help our work. The Cactus and Pine Golf Course Superintendents Association is a strong group of grass growers and we all share our success and failures throughout the year as well as educating each other on how we can always improve.

Even if you don’t drink wine all the time, being a Barrel Masters member is one of the best ways to have delicious wine at a discounted price at Encanterra. If you purchase a bottle of wine in the restaurant, you always get 40% off the price. You can also order wine through the Club for cost plus 30%. You will also have the opportunity to be part of our exclusive wine dinners and events.

For full details on Barrel Masters, including frequently asked questions and more, click here. Please note that when we refer to the $3 gratuity per bottle, that applies to when wine is pulled from your locker or is pre-purchased from the Club. The gratuity does not apply when you purchase wine at the time of dining from the restaurant’s wine list. The gratuity goes to the server, not the Club.

Reservations | With the increase of Members joining Encanterra, we are also seeing a lot more people joining us at Palma Kitchen + Tap. We highly encourage all Members to make reservations in advance so we can ensure a table for you and your party.

Encanterra Community Association

Dear Members,

We are pleased to welcome Michelle Werlinger, Assistant Community Manager, to the onsite Encanterra Team! Michelle and her family relocated to Queen Creek from Shakopee, Minnesota last November. Michelle spent the past seven years working in the multi-family property management industry, and she is very excited for the change of scenery. When Michelle isn’t spending time at Encanterra, she enjoys spending time with her family, playing volleyball, meeting new people, and relaxing in the pool. You may see Michelle driving around our community, as she will be assisting with architectural requests, compliance inspections, and landscape quality control. You can reach Michelle at mwerlinger@associatedasset.com. Please extend a warm Encanterra welcome to Michelle!
