I’m angry, Peter – but sadly, I’m not surprised: The U.S. Supreme Court just upended nearly half a century of precedent by overturning Roe v. Wade. The votes of five hard-line conservatives just eviscerated reproductive freedom for at least 32 million women across the country.
To all of you out there who are shocked, angry, scared – please know that I feel your pain. I hear your anxiety. And that is why I say: This fight is not over. We will NOT go back.
We will not go back to a time when women were treated as second-class citizens. We will not go back to a time when personal health care decisions were made for us by politicians like Marco Rubio. We will not go back to a time when women died because they didn’t have the basic human right of deciding when to start their own family.
Peter, the right-wing justices on the Supreme Court just did what GOP politicians like Marco Rubio have been pushing for for decades. Now, we can only safeguard reproductive freedom if we expand our Democratic majority and codify the protections of Roe v. Wade into law.
We have witnessed years and years of coordinated Republican-led assaults on reproductive freedom that culminated in today’s decision by the Supreme Court. It’s a sad, dark day for our country. I am determined to not go back – but I need you and your determination alongside me. Let’s flip this seat blue, expand our majority and codify Roe into law.
Thank you so much,

The Voter Protection Project is on an important mission: To end partisan gerrymandering and voter suppression by electing candidates at the state and federal levels that are forceful advocates for voting rights. Our enfranchisement agenda includes working to ensure that every state has automatic voter registration and online voter registration, convenient early voting, and independent redistricting commissions to ensure politicians are not able to draw their own maps.
