Celebrate 247 Years of Army Service

Happy Birthday, U.S. Army!

For 247 years, proud Americans have answered our nation’s call to duty by serving as American Soldiers. Numbering in the tens of millions, they have come from all walks of life. As seemingly ordinary Americans, they have served as Soldiers to accomplish the extraordinary. Together, they have steered the course of history.

American Soldiers asserted the will of our nation’s colonists who declared their right to be free. They have risen in the face of tyranny, turned back those who have wished us harm, and protected the safety and independence of our allies around the world. From humble roots, the U.S. Army now stands as the finest in the world.

In moments of crisis, the American Soldier has been the compassionate hand of the United States. Our Soldiers have responded to disasters at home and abroad with relief, aid, and comfort. The U.S. Army has also produced innovators, inventors, and explorers. Soldiers have advanced in the fields of medicine, aviation, navigation, transportation, renewable energy, and space travel, just to name a few.

The legacy of the U.S. Army is a vast 247-year collection of individuals’ stories of Americans at their best.

Every day, we are grateful that supporters like you have given our nation a place to forever preserve these stories and bring them to life for visitors around the world.

Today, we encourage you to celebrate the Army’s Birthday by taking an action:

Thank you for your continued support of our Foundation and our mission to preserve 247 years of service by the American Soldier. Thanks to you, it will never be forgotten.
