The Hayner is abloom with late spring and early summer flowers and the warm breezes make our Courtyard and front porch the perfect place to sit for a while to take in the beauty of the Hayner. Very soon, beautiful music will fill our Courtyard as the very popular Lucky Lemonade Series begins in July.  But the beauty isn’t only on the outside—the 1st & 2nd floor hallways are displaying our current photography exhibit, Through Our Eyes 2022.  This is a juried exhibit that features photos taken in Miami and surrounding counties. These are just a few of the wonderful reasons to visit the Hayner.  Remember, “It’s Your House”—so stop in and visit soon!!

Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens in Akron, Ohio
July 13, 2022 – One-Day Trip

The Stan Hywet Estate features a historic 65-room Tudor Revival Manor House, Gothic Revival Conservatory, Gate Lodge and approximately 70 acres of artistically landscaped grounds and formal gardens. In 1910, F.A. Seiberling, co-founder of The Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, began to purchase land in Portage Township, a farming area on the west side of the Akron city limits. Seiberling and his wife, Gertrude, wanted to build a home large enough for their growing brood and their extended family. They named it Stan Hywet, Old English for stone quarry – after the property’s most prominent natural feature. Seiberling hired architect Charles Schneider, landscape designer Warren Manning, and interior decorator Hugo Huber to create Stan Hywet. Construction began in 1912 and the Seiberling family moved to their new house  in December, 1915. This is one of the top ten historic homes in Ohio to visit. Our visit includes a one-hour guided tour of the Manor House, a one-hour guided tour of the gardens, lunch at the Estate and free time to explore the house and gardens.
