Bullhead City, AZ—Congressman Paul Gosar, DDS (R-AZ), issued the following statement in response to the leak and breach of security of a confidential draft opinion from the Supreme Court.

“At a time when government institutions like the Department of Justice, the FBI and DHS have been politicized and public trust is at an all-time low for most government agencies, the Supreme Court has been able to maintain some level of credibility as an institution that generally adhered to rules, precedent and procedure.   That public trust is now jeopardized by the recently revealed leak of a draft opinion in a pending supreme court case.  While likely done by a leftist law clerk who wanted to create public pressure on the justices, I hope that the justices are not threatened or intimidated.   Already mobs of angry and violent leftists have gathered in front of the Supreme Court to vent rage, hatred and violence.  I urge the Court to investigate whoever leaked this draft and take appropriate actions to terminate them and have them charged with federal offenses.

On the merits, if the draft opinion becomes final and the illegitimate and egregious Roe v. Wade decision is finally overruled, it will be a long overdue correction of an injustice.  The court in Roe created a patently ridiculous and false “constitutional right” to have an abortion.  Nothing in the Constitution provided any support for this unhinged decision that has led to over 60 million American babies being murdered.  If Roe is overruled it will be a first step for the Supreme Court to clean up its legacy and get back to interpreting laws, not creating laws,” said Congressman Gosar.

Background:

In a pending abortion case, for the first time in history, a draft opinion was leaked and shared publicly.  Over 240 years of court history was shattered by this severe breach of decorum and institutional privacy.  The Supreme Court must have security to be impartial arbiters of the law.  The leak was done to create a threatening environment for the Justices of the Supreme Court.
