Phoenix Children’s and Waymo partner to raise awareness about child passenger safety

Nineteen years ago, Gina Millsaps was involved in a rollover crash after a split-second of distraction while driving. Her daughters and her niece were in the vehicle, but Millsaps believes that seatbelts saved all of their lives.

While Millsaps and her family walked away from their crash relatively unscathed, far too many people are still driving distracted and not wearing seatbelts.

Distracted driving claimed the lives of 3,142 people on US roads in 2020.

April is Distracted Driving Awareness Month and Millsaps, Waymo, and Phoenix Children’s are all working to raise awareness about how wearing seatbelts and using the correct car seat for any children in the vehicle can save lives.
