Thousands of mountains, rivers and other places in the U.S. have racist, misogynistic or otherwise problematic names. These names make public lands unwelcoming and perpetuate a history of colonial oppression.
In collaboration with the National Association of Tribal Historic Preservation Officers and The Natural History Museum, The Wilderness Society is hosting a conversation with experts about this problem, including how you can join the movement to change it.
Experts will include grassroot activists, scientists and community leaders who will discuss the scope of the problem and a new guide that outlines the name-change process. The webinar will also feature recorded remarks from Senator Elizabeth Warren and Congressman Al Green.
Thank you,
