MLBPA makes new offer, but sides remain far apart

Before his career was cut short by a stroke, J.R. Richard, who would have been 72 years old today, was one of the most dominant pitchers in baseball.  Besides Richard, Jeff Kent, Joe Carter and Jeff Burroughs are among the other notable Major League players who were born on this day.  In honor of International Women’s Day, MLB Network is highlighting the women blazing trails on the diamond Tuesday at 7 p.m. ET on MLB Tonight.
