Good morning RJ,
We begin this morning’s newsletter with an incident that happened at Casa Grande Union High School Friday morning.
A fight that broke out between two students, coupled with reports of a threat to the school on social media, led parents to crowd the front office of the campus Friday morning to pick up their students. Video footage caught by a parent shows the front office packed with parents calling for and waiting for their children to be released. It also shows a crowd of students behind a glass entrance door into the school waiting to be released.
Plus, in case you missed this headline, two Phoenix area men were arrested for allegedly breaking into a Casa Grande store and attempting to make off with merchandise. The incident was reported to police by the store’s security company.
In other local news, drivers are being asked to plan for early morning lane restrictions tomorrow on Interstate 10 near the Sacaton rest area as crews are scheduled to complete guardrail repairs.
And Pinal’s new $100,000 border protection fund will possibly be spent locally, Sheriff Mark Lamb told the Board of Supervisors last week, adding the funding will more than likely be used to help address border-related issues within the county such as human smuggling and drug trafficking.
Finally, the Pinal County Spelling Bee was Friday and there were many heartwarming moments captured on camera. Check out the photo collection right here. |
