A few months ago, the Biden administration confirmed they plan on restoring and strengthening protections for the Tongass National Forest. Now we need to get that promise across the finish line.
In addition to protecting the Tongass from large-scale old-growth logging, we need to ensure the region sustains a robust economy that doesn’t rely on timber. A recently announced plan would help do that by focusing on recreation and fishing while also investing in measures to build Southeast Alaska’s resilience to climate change. This is our chance to lock in a bright future for the Tongass.
