Last year, I was heartbroken to learn Alexander Lofgren – an Arizona veteran and former member of Team Sinema – lost his life while hiking with his girlfriend.
Alexander served on our veterans advisory council, helping me make decisions about what bills to introduce and identify challenges within the veteran community that we could solve together. After Alexander’s loss, I introduced legislation named for him, allowing all veterans, servicemembers, and Gold Star families free access to our national parks.
I’m excited to share with you that I successfully worked to include ourAlexander Lofgren Veterans in Parks Actin the annual national defense bill, which was signed into law last month.

This bipartisan legislation is an appropriate way to honor Alex Lofgren, a veteran with a heart of gold who worked so hard on behalf of Arizona servicemembers. I’m so proud we came together to get it done.
