The CARES Act – $300 to $600 charitable-giving deduction

RJ– This is just a quick note to remind you that the expanded charitable-giving tax deduction included in the CARES Act is applicable through the end of the year.

• If you are electing to take the standard deduction and aren’t itemizing your 2021 taxes, you can claim up to a $300 charitable-giving tax deduction for qualifying donations you make in 2021.
• Unlike last year, it’s $300 per tax filer in 2021. So, if you are a married couple filing jointly, you and your spouse can claim up to $600 in total.
