Progress Arizona
Dear Rj,
At Progress Arizona, we’ve spent the better part of 2021 working to pressure Senator Kyrsten Sinema into doing, well, literally anything.
Contribute now to help us hold Senator Sinema accountable.
Over the past year, Senator Sinema has blocked critical voting rights legislation multiple times by allowing Republicans to continue to weaponize the filibuster rule. She gave a (very viral) thumbs down to a $15 federal minimum wage, and is largely responsible for the shameful downscaling of the Build Back Better Plan. She’s refused to answer Arizonans’ concerns about her legislative tactics, failing to host even a single town hall. In light of the crises we face — climate change, attacks on democracy, the COVID-19 pandemic, and more — we must continue the pressure on her.
In the past year, we’ve done a lot, working alongside a big network of partners all over the state. We’ve written op-eds, organized sign-on letters, driven thousands of calls and emails, placed ads, spoken with state and national press, and co-hosted rallies. We’ve gotten creative, whether it’s going viral with Venmo requests or projecting messages on buildings. We’ve supported brave protesters who were arrested sitting in at her office. We’ve even hosted a wine-tasting outside her office, in hopes to meet her where she is (that is, usually fundraisers with wealthy donors and plenty of wine).
It’s clear that Senator Sinema has the interests of someone in mind — it’s just not Arizonans. She clearly works on the behalf of wealthy donors and corporations, who have donated piles of cash to her reelection campaign in return for her service to them.
It’s true that we are up against a lot in this fight. The people who have bought Sinema have deep pockets. But we can’t give up — that’s why we’re asking you to donate today so that we can continue the pressure on Senator Sinema. Together, we can create a better 2022 — one where we can realize all of the promises Democrats made on the 2020 campaign trail.
Looking forward,
Abigail Jackson, Progress Arizona
