Dear Stakeholder,
The CIS Ombudsman has published a tip sheet on how to avoid common mailing errors when filing a benefit request with a U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) lockbox facility. USCIS recently made changes to lockbox filing locations to balance its incoming workload and improve internal processes.
The CIS Ombudsman’s USCIS Lockbox Filing Tip Sheet provides guidance on:
- Where to find information about changes to USCIS lockbox filing locations;
- Steps to take before mailing a form to a USCIS lockbox facility;
- What to include on the front of the envelope to ensure proper delivery;
- Linking a paper filing to your myUSCIS account; and
- How to receive email or text message notifications when USCIS accepts the filing.
In addition, the tip sheet covers how the U.S. Postal Service’s changes to first-class mail service standards may impact forms mailed to USCIS.
