We’re so happy you could join us to discover a few more things our beautiful county has to offer. Today, we’re taking a closer look at why the term “bedroom community” may no longer apply to some Pinal cities.
For nearly 20 years, many people have used the phrase “bedroom community” to refer to the city of Maricopa. The idea often sticks to a community seen as a place where people live but typically leave in the morning to go to work. But some people also use the term as a pejorative about the lack of cultural offerings in Maricopa.
Our editor says they’re wrong. Here’s why.Artist ProfileIt takes Russell Frank more than an hour and a half to paint one square inch of his work. And there’s a reason why — the details, he says, are important. Frank is an area artist known for his finely detailed animal paintings and ceramic pots.
Frank’s love for art started at a young age. At the age of 7, he won a coloring contest. It was initially sponsored by a local grocery store in his hometown, but he went on to win at a national level. “I never colored outside the lines,” Frank said. “I always paid attention to the details.” It’s the details in his work that have made this local artist stand out.
