Over the past few weeks, our news feeds have been populated with devastating images that illustrate the treacherous journeys people undertake to reach the United States. We have seen harrowing photos of Haitians at the U.S.-Mexico border and Afghans at the Kabul airport — people risking everything to find safety for themselves and their families. 

Yet their journeys do not end once they arrive in the United States. This month, I invite you to join us for two programs that highlight some of the considerable hurdles faced by forcibly displaced people in the U.S. One focuses on TPS (Temporary Protective Status) and how its use will affect Haitians seeking asylum; the other on the ways the trauma of displacement continues to shape the lives of the persecuted even when they are physically safe.
