Progress Arizona
Rj,
A report recently released by Americans for Tax Fairness shows that the dozen billionaires in Arizona have seen their wealth grow by 161% over the last year, amid the pandemic. Meanwhile, everyday Arizonans are struggling. If we simply asked the ultra-wealthy and corporations to pay their fair share, we could enact critical legislation that would invest in working families and clean energy.
We have an opportunity to provide things like paid family and medical leave or child and elder care for working people. We could even have the resources to tackle wildfires and drought! Unfortunately, some elected officials are siding with these billionaires and opposing a budget that would fund these priorities–all because they don’t want to ask the ultra-wealthy to pitch in.
Two-thirds (65%) of Arizona voters support President Biden’s American Families Plan, which is essentially Biden’s Build Back Better Plan, and 68% see his proposals to raise taxes on the wealthy and corporations as a strong reason to support it.
In solidarity,
