This morning’s top news

And a few more things you need to see

The Brewers celebrated Bob Uecker’s 50th anniversary as the team’s radio voice, and Mr. Baseball showed off his usual wit, including a unique ceremonial first pitch.

The Cardinals have been around for a long time, but they have never had a winning streak like this. Here are some stats and facts from their incredible run.

With his 43rd long ball of 2021, Marcus Semien tied Davey Johnson for the MLB single-season record for home runs by a second baseman.

In a back-and-forth game between the Reds and Nationals, Nick Castellanos came up in the bottom of the ninth with a plan: “I was looking to hit a home run.”

On the way to their 15th straight victory, the Cardinals escaped a jam in the eighth inning at Wrigley Field by turning a not-so-routine 3-2-5-4-2-8-6 double play.

Larry Walker had his number retired by the Rockies after becoming the first player to represent the franchise in the Hall of Fame earlier this month.

Just because a team is out of the postseason race doesn’t mean it can’t make an impact. Here are the most memorable spoilers from stretch runs past.
