Gosar Joins Bipartisan Request to Remove COVID Restrictions on International Travel
PRESCOTT, AZ – Representative Paul A. Gosar, D.D.S. (AZ-04) issued the following statement after joining a bipartisan group of congressional members urging the Biden Administration to begin taking steps to safely remove the remaining Covid-19 restrictions on international travel.
“According to recent data and scientific studies by the Center for Disease Control, the pandemic has a reached a point where international travel to the United States can safely resume without restrictions. I am happy to join this bipartisan group who recognize the impact ongoing travel restrictions are imposing on the travel industry. The matter is urgent.
As noted in the letter, if nothing is done to lift entry restrictions, the United States is projected to lose 1.1 million jobs and an additional $175 billion by the end of this year,” concluded Congressman Gosar.

Background:
Recent data and scientific studies show that a safe reopening of international travel to the U.S. is within reach. More than 50% of American adults are now fully vaccinated, with the potential for 70% of Americans above the age of 12 to be fully vaccinated by this month. The number of new infections and COVID-related deaths have declined significantly within the last 30 days. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has said that it is safe for fully vaccinated individuals to safely resume many activities, including travel. Similarly, scientific studies have shown that the inbound international testing requirement, federal mask mandate, state-of-the-art air filtration systems onboard aircraft, and other layered protections have also significantly reduced the likelihood that international travelers will carry or transmit the virus.
