Samaritan’s Purse

Healing on the Homefront

Wounds suffered on the battlefield follow a veteran home. That’s true not only for physical injuries that are visible, but for emotional and spiritual wounds that are invisible. The pain frequently takes a tremendous toll on their family, especially their spouse, who is often not only a wife or husband but a caregiver.Support Our Heroes

That’s why Samaritan’s Purse ministers to both spouses through Operation Heal Our Patriots and offers ongoing Family Care—chaplain follow-up, church connections, continuing training, and service opportunities—to couples after they return home from Alaska.

Marine Gunnery Sergeant David Mercado and his wife, Christina, recently participated in Operation Heal Our Patriots. During their week in Alaska, we praise God that they committed their lives to Christ.

“We’ve been lost for a while. I knew we were, but I didn’t know what to do,” Christina said. “We realized the Gospel is what we needed.”See Their Story
