AWLA
Happy June, animal lovers!
Summer is well underway (at least it is here in Virginia) and we’ve got a jam-packed few months ahead for all to enjoy!
The first-ever community birth-day of giving is here (learn more about that here or keep scrolling), plus all kinds of other activities: a neonatal kitten workshop for kids, Summer Camp is back (both online and in-person), amazing Smarty Pets topics in June and July, plus Putt-Putt for Pets and a partridge in a pear tree (if you will).
Let’s just say there is so much more waiting for you on the events calendar and I think I speak for everyone when I say how genuinely excited I am to see you all again (whether in-person or online).
Thank you for sticking with us!

Did you know that June 5th is AWLA’s 77th Birthday!?
This year (and always) we’re celebrating everything that makes AWLA great — YOU and the impact you make every day on the animals in the shelter and the community.
Animals like Layla.Layla was a textbook “scaredy cat” when she came to AWLA. Her owner just passed away and she wasn’t sure what to make of all of these new people making a fuss about how cute she was.
After a couple months, and lots of patience and treats, Layla has discovered that we aren’t so bad and started to open up to us.
Now she is enjoying time in her foster home, window watching and getting lots of pets, until she finds a new family to love on her for years to come (maybe that’s you?)
And that’s the best birthday gift we could ever receive — to give thousands of other animals like Layla the time and attention they need to thrive. All thanks to YOU!
