The tour begins at the St. Patrick Soup Kitchen (25 N. Mulberry Street, Troy).
Kicking off with a slideshow presentation by Doug Tremblay from the Museum of Troy History, we’ll dive into the rich history of Hayner Distilling.
Travel back to 1866, when Hayner Distilling began on the banks of the Great Miami River. Explore its rise to become the nation’s largest mail-order whiskey business, until Prohibition shut its doors in 1920.
After the presentation, enjoy a guided walking tour of historic Hayner buildings, including remnants of those long gone.
Bourbon Tasting:
We’ll conclude with a bourbon tasting at the site of Hayner’s original bottling plant. Greg Taylor from Hayner Distilling will present on the revival of the brand, and you’ll have the opportunity to sample the new Hayner Bourbon, alongside other Hayner spirits. Non-alcoholic drinks and snacks will also be available.
Important Notes:
The walking tour includes uneven surfaces, railroad tracks, and steps. The first hour of the event is seated in a handicap-accessible location, but the bourbon tasting venue is not handicap accessible.
All tickets must be purchased through the Eventbrite link. For questions, please contact the Museum of Troy History at 937-339-5155 (not Hayner Distilling).
Don’t miss out on this unique event celebrating local history and bourbon!
