Tempe Councilmember Adams to lead Valley Metro boards(yourvalley.net) — Tempe Councilmember Jennifer Adams has been appointed as the new chair of the Valley Metro Regional Public Transportation Authority Board. Adams, who highlights Tempe‘s high transit ridership, will also serve as vice chair of the Valley Metro Board of Directors, influencing regional transportation decisions.
   

2. HSI agents raids home in Arizona over the weekend (kyma.com) — Over the weekend, Homeland Security Investigations agents conducted a raid in Tempe resulting in arrests. Neighbors captured the dramatic scene, which involved an armored vehicle and the detention of a man and woman, highlighting ongoing immigration enforcement actions.
   

3. Trinitas, Mitsui Fudosan Close on Land for Tower Near ASU(multifamilyaffordablehousing.com) — Trinitas Ventures and Mitsui Fudosan America have finalized a land sale for Astria Tempe, a 27-story mixed-use tower near Arizona State University. The project, featuring various residential amenities, is expected to be completed by summer 2027.
   

4. Skate punk legends JFA to play an intimate museum show in October(phoenixnewtimes.com) — The Tempe History Museum will host a free show by skate punk legends JFA on October 10. This event is part of the museum’s ‘Dry History: Local Skateboarding History’ exhibition and includes a panel discussion with band members.

Tempe Launches ADU Design Challenge with AARP Grant to Boost Affordable Housing Options (hoodline.com) — Tempe is launching an innovative ADU Design Challenge to enhance affordable housing, supported by a $20,000 AARP grant. This initiative aims to streamline the development of accessory dwelling units, promoting sustainability and multigenerational living.
