Hey readers,
I’m Ed Masley, The Republic’s pop music reporter.
Country Thunder Arizona returned to Canyon Moon Ranch in Florence on Thursday for a four-day weekend with headlining performances by Riley Green, Keith Urban, Hardy and Bailey Zimmerman on a bill that also features Tucker Wetmore, Justin Moore, Ashley McBryde, Luke Bryan and more.
We’ll be out there posting updates hourly through Zimmerman’s headlining set on Sunday, by which point the festival’s 1 millionth fanwill have passed through those gates and received a huge prize package worth thousands of dollars.
The festival attracts an average of more than 25,000 people a day. Roughly half of those attendees spend the weekend in the more than 8,000 campsites at Canyon Moon Ranch that sell out long before the festival begins.
If you’re planning to attend — or need to be out driving in the vicinity — we’ve got your traffic tips (because there WILL be traffic), a festival guide with everything you need to before you go and daily set times for both stages, the smaller of which of is packed with homegrown talent.
We’ve got the inside scoop on how the festival lineup is put togetherthanks to a refreshingly candid conversation with Country Thunder CEO Troy Vollhoffer.
And we’ve got an in-depth look at Country Thunder in the ‘90s , when the festival was launched at Queen Creek Mayor Mark Schnepf’s family farm as Country Jam USA.
