Enhanced Dating: Why Instagram’s the New Tinder
I’ve done my fair share of online dating. Going way back, I used Plenty of Fish – but then took to Tinder as app-based dating became more of a thing. I guess you could say it’s gone pretty well since I met my now-wife on Tinder. We’ve been together 10 years and married 5. At this stage, I’m really hoping she’s deleted her profile.
Anyway, times are changing in the online dating world it seems. According to a study carried out by dating coach app Rizz, Instagram has overtaken virtually every other dating, social media, and messaging app as the way people like to meet potential partners.

Although Tinder seemed to work for me, a lot of guys and girls I know think it’s way too much like a meat market; if someone doesn’t like the immediate look of a profile, then they’re gone forever – where Instagram gives you more of a chance to more naturally get to know a person – like in the pre-internet old days.
I’m not sure how many of you guys are single (or possibly not single but hitting the apps anyway – no judgment here) – but I figured I’d explore some tips that’ll enhance your online dating game, whatever your platform of choice. This video by dating coach Connell Barrett was packed full of great tips that go well beyond that kinda cheesy pick-up artist stuff that so many people (myself included) have tried. Check it out; it’s 30 minutes well spent if you wanna improve your success rates.

Enhanced Ozempic: Why Weight Loss Shouldn’t Be the Only Goal
I’ve got a good friend who runs a highly respected personal training business. A couple of years ago, he was worrying about how weight loss drugs like Ozempic and Wegovy were going to end his business – but the opposite has turned out to be true – he’s got lots of Ozempic users coming through his doors.
If you or someone you know is on one of these GLP-1 weight loss drugs, you’ll probably be seeing impressive results. The trouble is, the weight loss element might be turning your attention away from a couple of health issues that often go hand-in-hand with using weight loss meds.
So, what should you do if you’re taking or planning to take GLP-1 Semaglutide medications? All the evidence points to strength training with some smart nutritional choices.
I did some digging for a decent in-depth guide into exercise and weight loss drugs for a friend who was considering starting Ozempic – and I found this one from UK Personal Training qualification company called Train Fitness. I thought you guys might find it useful – it covers some great points, so it’s a good starting place if you’re thinking about weight loss meds but want to make sure you’re maximizing your health too.

Enhanced Escapes: Fifty-Cent Escape Knife
I’m guessing (and hoping) the chance of me being kidnapped in my life is pretty low – but if it ever happened, I’d be wishing I’d spent forty bucks on one of these:
|
|
This is a disguised escape knife, made from a real fifty-cent piece. It splits in two, revealing a Japanese circular blade that’ll cut through rope, zip ties, or anything else non-metallic someone’s chosen to restrain you with.
Available on Uncrate if you’re worried about getting grabbed and don’t have a friend/Dad like Liam Neeson to sort things out.

Enhanced Movies: Dead Man’s Shoes
When I watched that quote from Taken I shared above, it reminded me of a British movie I watched a few years ago and was stunned by. If you’re into revenge thrillers, check out a movie called Dead Man’s Shoes.
It’s about a British veteran who returns to his small hometown to take revenge on some local guys who’ve bullied his disabled brother. Paddy Considine (House of the Dragon) is the lead, and Toby Kebbell (For All Mankind, Servant) plays his brother.
Word of warning though, it is not a feel-good first-date movie. I watched it back in my dating days with a girl, and she just looked horrified. I didn’t see her again.
I can’t find it available to stream on any of my services, but you can pick up the DVD on Amazon for less than $10. It’s well worth it in my eyes.

Enhanced Philosophy: A Great Quote to Take Onboard
I’ve felt like I’ve messed up a bunch of stuff in my life, including relationships, jobs, my finances (a couple of times) – and it’s easy to dwell on those things, thinking about them as failures or wrong-turns.
That’s why this quote stood out to me when I saw it recently.
|
|
It’s a good quote to keep in mind. Read autobiographies of anyone who’s done amazing things and you’ll hear it from them too – it’s just it’s their successes we hear about.
Don’t be hard on yourself, no-one’s perfect – so learn what you can, dust yourself off, and keep going.

Anyway! That’s all for this week. See you next week for more life-enhancing TL;DRs from across the internet.
