BACKGROUND:
Owned and operated by Major League teammates Chris Iannetta and Vernon Wells, Two Old Dogs winery sprung from a passion for wine and love of spending time with family and friends. After their first four vintages of JACK Wines, the team made the decision to expand their wine portfolio by adding Two Old Dogs with partner Jennifer Lamb, and the winemaking expertise of Julien Fayard, one of Napa Valley’s most respected winemakers. Julien’s wines are a pure expression of their terroir, highlighting the specificities and characteristics of the fruit, vineyard management, soil and climate, producing California varietals with French finesse.

Dedicated to achieving excellence in his craft, Julien garnered winemaking positions at some of Bordeaux’s most noble wineries, including Chateau Lafite Rothschild and Smith Haut Lafitte. In 2006, Julien moved to Napa and worked with Philippe Melka as his director of winemaking for eight years before launching his own projects and helped land him on this stunning effort from these Two Old Dogs!

WINEMAKER’S NOTES:
“The 2020 was barrel aged in 100% French oak with 40% new oak for 18 months. The blend is composed of 100% Cabernet Sauvignon and presents a fantastic expression of the fruit and structure, providing touches of earthiness and minerals. It has a supple texture in the mouth delivering a velvety body with elegant tannins.

“Hints of cassis flow through a tannin structure that is both well-defined and incredibly smooth. Red currants eventually give way to a concentrated black cherry pie filling which balances beautifully with the lingering of nutty vanilla on the finish.”
