| Peter, this is urgent. Following the destruction of Hurricane Helene, and without a moment to spare, we hit the road. Thanks to our rescue team, we pick up animals from shelters in hard hit areas, enabling them to make room for displaced pets. Now we are counting on you to help us care for all the new arrivals.
In Georgia, we delivered much needed supplies to our partner, Albany Humane, and took in 20 of their dogs. Our team also traveled to South Carolina and picked up 13 kittens and 2 cats from Lakeside Animal Rescue, clearing out critically needed space for animals in need.
“Thanks to the relationships we have with our shelter partners in the region, we were able to make plans in advance to provide relief,” said Animal League America Senior Rescue Manager Karla Scaramuzzo. “Being able to mobilize quickly is so important in these situations. We’re able to help shelters in the area take in animals lost after the storm or that need temporary housing.”
Now that these rescues have been safely brought to our campus, we will make sure they have everything they need, including ultimately, the protection of a loving home. And whether they require emergency surgery, medication, or simply a warm place to rest, they’ll be cared for as long as it takes. You can be there every step of the way.
