Good Morning!
Pediatricians are already a special breed of doctor. In my years as a pediatric nurse, I met many kind-hearted doctors, some of whom felt like they could be your sweet grandpa. The best ones had a way of putting both parents and kids at ease.
While many doctors can be too overwhelmed with their workload to really hone in on their bedside manner, pediatric doctors can’t help but remember that a warm and gentle demeanor is an important therapeutic agent. The best ones also recognize that there is no better expert on their patient than the parents who watch that child with keen interest hour by hour.
Dr. Warsh understands this and is moving away from this top-down model where the doctor dictates what to do and when. Instead, he aims for a collaborative conversation with parents about what they believe is best for their child long-term. Together, they develop a plan focused on achieving the best possible outcomes, with an emphasis on prevention from the start. He takes the time to get to know the family and their values, even if its about controversial topics like vaccines. His goal is to help parents navigate the often complex and conflicting landscape of health and disease—with a little help from their own insight and intuition.
