Hello Peter,
Today on Juneteenth, we celebrate the news of our hard-fought and hard-earned freedoms reaching the last enslaved people in Texas.
My childhood summers involved trips to my mother’s home state of Texas, surrounded by family, and celebrating with my elders the true meaning of Juneteenth. Juneteenth is a reminder to be proud of our history and to continue fighting to remove all the chains holding us back.
MAGA extremists want to send us backwards by banning books and content in schools that teach diversity, rolling back our right to vote, and stripping away our reproductive freedoms.
I know firsthand what’s at stake for me, my grandchildren, and the families that look like mine — we cannot let the MAGA extremists take over our government in November.
Black voters are the backbone of the Democratic party and it’s critical that Democrats win in Nevada for the White House, the Senate, and more.
I am proud of the progress we’ve built in Nevada towards more representative governance. It’s an honor to serve as the first Black woman chair of the Democratic party with fellow history makers like Attorney General Aaron Ford, the first Black person to hold a constitutional office in Nevada, and Rep. Steven Horsford, the first Black person to represent Nevada in Congress.
We must and we will continue to take action to bend the arc of history toward justice.
Thank you,
DMM
P.S. On this day of celebration and recognition, consider making a donation towards our future and the work we have to do.
Nevada is a critical battleground state for Democrats to keep the Senate and White House in 2024. Unlike Republicans with their war chest full of dark money, we rely on grassroots supporters for the resources needed to win. |
