We can’t help but be excited when one of our favorite bottles pops up at an awards show, and 15 STARS has seen their fair share. We shared recently about their Sherry Cask getting named “The World’s Best Bourbon” on Forbes, which was well deserved. Brian also had it in his
Top Three Finished Whiskeys of 2023 List last year. 15 STARS is one of those brands that seems to keep releasing hit after hit after hit (even most recently bringing home 4 Double Golds at San Francisco World Spirits), and that stays true with the release of their new Private Stock 8 & 15 Bourbon.
I’m always excited to get into a new 15 STARs and this one is no exception.
The nose is soft, but layered. A mix of sugary fruit notes hit first but then you get pops of cooked caramel, fudge nut brownies, pineapple upside down cake, and fresh honey. Airy, decadent, creamy.
Charred oak, rich brown sugar, cigar box, dark cherry and bananas foster envelope the palate in a coating, yet silky mouthfeel. Great complexity and excellent transition of layers through the tasting experience.
The ending sips continues with the dark cherry and oak in a long, gripping finish.
