We start today with breaking state news, as Arizona’s territorial-era law outlawing abortion except to save the life of the mother is enforceable. In a split decision, four of the justices said that the 2022 ruling by the U.S. Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade eliminated what that case had said was a constitutional right of women to terminate their own pregnancy.
In San Tan Valley, a vote on whether San Tan Valley residents should form a city has been extended to next summer. The town of Queen Creek and city of Chandler have announced their support of incorporation, and the STV Inc. board has worked with the town of Gilbert and city of Mesa in preparation for a future vote on incorporation.
