Dear Classic Car Enthusiasts, Collectors and Followers

It was so good to see the bustling Rétromobile in Paris, carrying with it a feeling of the classic car market picking up.

 

Then, across the pond, over to Amelia and Miami, we witnessed several quite important cars being sold under the hammer and some records being broken, along with numerous exciting shows taking place at the same time: it looks like two very important dates need to be added to the classic car world diary.

 

The four big players in the auction world put on a good show reporting grand turnouts and record sales, but not all were as ‘grand’ as touted, though the optimism quite clearly shows the market is still buoyant and the classic car world is alive and kicking.

We see even more new online auctions cropping up.

Really?

Where and when will it stop?

Some digital operators are doing ‘the business’, but – as they are unregulated – who really knows what the true outcome is and if the car(s) genuinely sold?

Just be very careful.

 

Back in the UK and Europe, we have exciting events taking place, alongside auctions whose outcome will tell if the market is still holding up.

 

Great reports from the dealer network! The flags are well and truly flying: some great sales, stock moving, and a nice new inventory coming to town.

So, with the famous spring being added to the step (it is the end of March, after all), all that remains is to work out what is really selling.

 

Reports from the auction houses show that authenticity still sells, with document-supported cars doing as well as ever, the lower end being populated by models from the ‘80s still ringing the bell but slowing down a touch.

British marques are suffering a little; where the market was strong for Jaguars, it is now falling off, while Aston Martin still holds its own even after the influx of cars from the Persian Gulf.

The Germans and Italians don’t show any sign of weakening.

We have seen so many Aston Martin DB6s go through auctions, but they are not as good value cars as some deck-chair reports seem to think.

We have seen some very nice examples sell well within the dealer network, so long may that continue.

This special Aston Martin V8 Vantage Volante was inspired by the enthusiastic and passionate follower of Aston Martin cars, Andre Bloom. Andre had an eye for the unusual and a positive drive to get exactly what he wanted, and this unique car was his dream machine.

The Aston Martin Works Demonstrator Minky January 1992 the new cars sales was in the depths of slow down, so the Aston Martin Service and Restoration department launched the Aston martin Virage 6.3 conversion. The demonstration vehicle known as Minky was the most published Aston Martin of the era, making the front page of many magazines.

This beautiful 1958 Aston Martin DB MK III, is one of 84 cars made and even less in left hand drive format as this one is. Finished in dark blue paint with black mohair hood and black leather trim, just outstanding car. Supplied new by US Importer H.S Inskip in USA and sold new to The Weathermatic Corporation of Long Island City, New York, USA

The car today has been totally stripped and is in the process of a total nut and bolt rebuild to the exact original specification, including all the very special extras the car was supplied with.

Built on a DB4 Series two shortened chassis with a Shapecraft alloy body, Aston Engineering twin spark engine, straight car racing gearbox, the list continues.

We have had the pleasure to have previously sold this car which we are fully aware of the very well documented history file. The car has been subject to a complete chassis and underbody restoration, repainted in Silver Grey with gorgeous red leather interior, just the right specification. Having been service in the current ownership with Chiltern Aston with some eye watering invoice to support the well maintained car, money no objet. Stunning looking car and drives as it looks, just spot on and supporting the great history its a great all round car with looks.

This stunning 1955 example of a rare left hand drive car was totally restored and well documented in 2009, with a number of positive up-grades to improves to what is a fine car already. With the 3 litre engine makes it a prime candidate for world rallies and tour, eligible for the Mille Miglia.

 Aston Martin DB2, is very famous as the Jean Bloxam car. In fact, she bought the car from Major Woods the first registered owner in 1956.

A car with excellent history on the road and track. Excellent condition.

This Aston Martin Vanquish S Ultimate Edition number 50 of 50 was first delivered in June 2007 one of ONLY 20 right hand drive cars and one of the most original in outstanding condition.

This is one of the last cars hand built at the Newport Pagnel factory.

The last of the best, in exemplary condition.

This concours winning car is probably the BEST prepared Vanquish and is fitted with the SDP (Sports Dynamics Pac) which went on to be the Vanquish S without the super light weight wheels. The car started life as the company demonstrator being the car used for PR and customer demonstration use. The car is packed with extras others were not a-custom to, with the Linn music system, pop up dash screen and so much more.

A really original gentleman’s motor car, with all the  properties of a 1980’s era and still recognized with true style. 1981 V8 volante with only two previous owners.

1978 Aston Martin V8 Volante left hand drive has covered a scant 9,300 original miles from new and really is like new in condition.

It is finished in flawless Raven Black paintwork to the exterior and black hides along with black carpets to the interior. It is a left hand drive and automatic example.

1979 Aston Martin V8 Volante with a Manual transmission , having had the complete chassis refurbished, the car is totally rust free.

Stunning colours and a great driving car. They do not come along very often.

Design Concept for a “Supercar” of the future Aston Martin Project Vantage

In January 1998 Aston Martin released to the world that the Design Concept for a “supercar” of the future was being launched.

Totally unique future desgin of Aston Martin cars and one which will never date, like a DB5.A must for any serious collection.

This car is a 2005 Vanquish S production model and was sold new in Rome, Italy.

It was purchased by the previous  owner in 2016 when it was delivered to Brussels Belgium.

The car was then purchased by the current British owner in 2019.

The car is finished in Meteorite Silver paint with Obsidian black and Chancellor red leather trim.

This Aston Martin Virage Volante was one of only two left hand drive cars to have the full 6.3 conversion and the only car with manual transmission form.

Outstanding condition and drives so well. Rare car with so much attitude and drives so well.

Aston Martin Virage built for Royalty to special V8 Coupe specification and has too be one of the fineness examples.

Just 11,000 documented miles, finished in British Raceing Green with Red Leather interior.

Aston Martin had never used the name Limited Edition before and first used with the run out of Virage and prior to the launch of the V8 coupe.

This incredible example was built for the International Car Centre Doha, Qatar as a show car, finished in Dover White with Magnolia Piped Burgundy Leather trim, the car is to Middle East specification. This is a excellent unmolested example which has NOT been played around with and is in extremely original condition and rust free.

This stunning Lagonda Rapier 1936 has been a passion of love by the current owner for the last 30 years.

A wonderful example which drives so well for a 88 year old car, truly amazing.

Great supporting history with some marvellous stories.

This excellent example has been in the same family since 1970’s and has been totally restored in the early years of ownership. The history is impeccable and well supported to verify the outstanding condition of the car, which has been totally pampered all of its well-used life.

The two litre Aston Martin cars of this era are great to drive, always admired with a thumbs up.
