The 2019 harvest started one to two weeks later than previous years, mostly due to February rains, but because the vines were in their winter dormancy, it did not affect the 2019 crop. Spring continued to be wet with some rain during flowering, followed by cool temperatures that allowed the grapes to mature gradually. Most grapes ripened at lower sugars, thanks to the extended, cool growing season, and winemakers were pleased with the full flavors, fresh acidity, and superb balance of the 2019 fruit. The resulting crop showed a modest yield with a slightly more compact structure and extract than in previous years.

94+ Points, Joe Czerwinski, Wine Advocate
“The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate Audentia delivers notes of cassis, mocha, cinnamon, and a hint of redder fruit in the raspberry-cherry spectrum. Full-bodied, velvety and rich, there’s lots of concentration and structure here.”

The Napa Valley region enjoyed a stunning, near picture-perfect 2018 growing season including good winter rains, mild spring weather and steady temperatures throughout that allowed for even flowering and bud break. These ideal growing conditions were followed by a cool, even, and slow-paced harvest, which allowed the winery to vinify wines at a gentle pace. The resulting 2018 wines are of very high quality with lower alcohol, concentrated flavors, color, and excellent acidity.

“This is complex and intense on the nose, driven by aromas of ripe dark fruit, dark chocolate and sweet vanilla with hints of hazelnuts, licorice and graphite. Full-bodied with layers of firm, chewy tannins, together with a dense, viscous structure. Deep and compact all the way through the long, velvety finish with notes of crushed stones and dark chocolate.”

The 2017 vintage in the Napa Valley was smaller yielding but high in quality. The region enjoyed much needed rain during the winter months ending the drought. A short period of warmer than usual temperatures during Labor Day weekend accelerated harvest for early ripening grape varieties, resulting in an intense and, at times, unpredictable harvest. Though yields were lower than usual, the wines show exceptional flavor intensity and conditions were perfect for producing a wine with beautiful fruit as well as tremendous concentration of flavors, highly saturated color, and layers of complexity.

“Currants, black cherries, cloves, dried leaves and flowers on the nose. Hints of walnuts and chocolate orange, too. Some conifer. It’s full-bodied with firm, seamlessly integrated tannins and fresh acidity. Creamy texture. Rich flavors, yet wonderfully balanced.”
