You have been selected by Hillsdale College to represent your state in a National Referendum on Religious Liberty.

 

The referendum will only take a few moments of your time. Before you complete it, I want to remind you of some things we’ve seen (and lived through) in recent years—which we never thought we’d see in our country…

 

• • Government mandates forcing Christian churches to close while casinos, strip clubs, and drug dispensaries remained open.

• • Far-Left activists targeting Christian business owners, Christian teachers, and Christian coaches through litigation.

• • The weaponizing of the Department of Justice and the FBI against Christian pro-life advocates who are defined as believing in “extremist ideologies” and having the potential for “domestic terrorism.”

• Christians in the workplace being forced to hide their faith while critical race theory and transgenderism are promoted.

 

That’s why I’m asking you to take the Hillsdale College National Referendum on Religious Liberty.

Like the founders of our nation, the founders of Hillsdale College understood the essential connection between faith and freedom. The College was founded in 1844 to offer “sound learning” in order to preserve “the inestimable blessings…of civil and religious liberty.”

 

Yet today’s ruling class mocks people of faith as “backward,” “bigots,” and even “Christo-fascists.” Politicians like Barack Obama claim that people like you “get bitter” and “cling to guns or religion.”

 

These so-called elites are full of contempt for you and for Christianity and will not protect your civil and religious liberties.

 

You and I know that religious liberty in America is under serious threat. But we can reverse course.

 

The first step is…EDUCATION.

 

Today’s government policies that threaten religious liberty were conceived and implemented by people deceived by far-Left propaganda in our K-12 schools, colleges, and universities.

 

That’s why a vital part of this fight—in which Hillsdale College is a leader—is reaching and teaching millions of citizens the TRUTH about America’s great heritage of religious liberty.

 

We are heavily invested in our educational outreach efforts through our Project to Save Religious Liberty in America.

 

These efforts include:

 

• • Teaching nearly 1,600 undergraduate and graduate students—on our campuses in Hillsdale, Michigan, and Washington, D.C.—who bring their traditional faith with them as they join the fight to restore liberty and constitutional government in our country.

• • Distributing Imprimis, America’s leading digest of liberty, which is mailed to more than 6.6 million homes and businesses ten times per year. Previous issues include “Inside the Transgender Empire” by Christopher F. Rufo, “The Most Important Decision in Life” by Bishop Robert Barron, and “The Politicization of the Department of Justice” by Harmeet K. Dhillon.

• • Producing and promoting free online courses for any citizen who wishes to learn on topics such as Christianity, the Constitution, American history, and free market economics. Several courses (including “The Genesis Story: Reading Biblical Narratives,” “Ancient Christianity,” and “C.S. Lewis on Christianity”) consider the important connection between faith and liberty.

• Providing a classical K-12 curriculum with a solid grounding in American history, constitutional government, and economics to schools that educate thousands of students nationwide.

 

After everything we’ve seen in recent years, the need for Hillsdale’s educational outreach efforts is undeniable.
