Bill Clinton to be Named in Epstein Docs
A federal judge ruled that sensitive documents related to Jeffery Epstein will now be unsealed, and the process is expected to happen this week.
The documents originate from a lawsuit against Epstein’s girlfriend, Ghislaine Maxwell, and they include 150+ anonymous “John or Jane Does.” Former president Bill Clinton is reported to be one of them, amongst other high-profile figures.
According to ABC News, the documents do not necessarily contain evidence of illegal activity by Clinton, but he’s reportedly named 50 times.
Epstein, a convicted sex offender, was on trial for sex trafficking when he allegedly killed himself in prison, and Maxwell is currently serving a 20-year sentence for sex trafficking. Celebrities such as Prince Andrew of Britain’s royal family are accused of participating in Epstein’s illegal sex ring.
Roads, homes, and businesses were destroyed, and about 100,000 people were evacuated from the surrounding region due to a tsunami warning. Thirty people are reported dead.
Japan’s nuclear industry has been under fire since 2011, when earthquakes and a tsunami caused meltdowns near Fukushima that destroyed entire towns.
Last week, the government allowed the country’s largest nuclear plant to resume operation (it had been shut down since 2011). No nuclear incidents have been reported thus far.
New State Laws for January
The new year brought a slate of new state laws into effect, and some of them are controversial.
In California, toy retailers are now required to have a “gender-neutral” section where none of the marketing is directed at either boys or girls.
New York has banned pet stores from selling dogs, cats, or rabbits. Governor Kathy Hochul (D) says it will reduce the harmful treatment of animals.
In Michigan, sweeping gun control legislation is going into effect, including a “red-flag” law and specific requirements for how guns are stored at home.
