Israeli troops have taken control of the Al Shifa hospital in Gaza, where they say that Hamas had an underground command center. They’ve released pictures showing weapons and other military supplies captured there.
There are reportedly still hundreds of patients and staff members in the hospital. Israeli troops have been searching the building and staff to uncover Hamas militants and military gear in what Israel described as a “precise and targeted” operation.
Israeli officials have acknowledged they have a limited time to accomplish their military goals in the face of public opinion. A majority of Americans now back a cease-fire for the first time.
Thanksgiving Prices Drop From Last Year
Thanksgiving dinner will cost 4.5% less to prepare this year, thanks mainly to lower turkey costs, but it’s still much more expensive than before the pandemic.
The supply of turkeys is up over last year, so the price is down as much as 6%. Cranberries cost 18% less, and whipped cream costs 23% less. The Farm Bureau has a breakdown of Thanksgiving food prices year over year.
Still, compared with pre-pandemic times, the cost of a Thanksgiving feast is about 25% higher this year, a sign of the impact of high inflation since 2020.
NBA Match Erupts in Wild Melee
An NBA game between the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Golden State Warriors was disrupted in the first two minutes after a fight broke out (see it here) that ended with one player choking another on the court.
The incident resulted in three players being ejected and began before a single basket had been scored. The Warriors’ Klay Thompson got in a scuffle with Minnesota’s Jaden McDaniels. In the ensuing melee, the Warriors’ Draymond Green gripped Minnesota’s Rudy Gobert in a headlock.
Green was ejected and received a 5-game suspension, and three other players received $25,000 fines. On social media, fans went wild with memes, including one that captured the headlock imageand said: “Put it in the Louvre.”
