Peter, animal lovers like you not only help us save lives, you also bring families together – sometimes before they even realize it themselves! That’s what happened the first time Knox met his dad.
North Shore Animal League America staff member David Haliski joined our rescue team on a mission to save animals from various puppy mills in the Midwest. He was there to take photos, but found himself keeping close watch over a terrified Labrador named Knox.
Already a parent to a senior Lab, Kayla, David felt a special affinity for Knox. “His face was just tucked into the corner of his crate… You could tell at first all the dogs didn’t know if they were going to something better or worse than where they were. But in a short time you could give them a few pets and see their little tails start going,” David said.
Thanks to our caring community, Knox was going somewhere much better. On the journey home, David began thinking Knox would be a wonderful addition to his family and canine sibling for Kayla. And as soon as Knox was examined by our vet staff and had time to decompress, the adoption was official!
Whether a rescue animal is adopted right away or needs more serious medical and behavioral care before finding a loving home, friends like you make all the difference. If you want to make more happy stories like Knox’s possible, please join us with a gift today. |
